BR does seafood!

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

we've officially gotten accustomed to eating out for free almost twice a month now. all thanks to the random rewards and recognition stuff we have scattered all over. we're not complaining.

i've actually lost track of why we have money to spend on food. but when we do, i make sure we spend it wisely! haha. so i click-the-city-ed and looked for places. vinci pointed this one out and i think it was wise decision indeed.

seafood island is interestingly good.

they all had to wear something purple-y. i didn't get the memo.

ate micah. our honorary guest. she's welcome anytime. every time. all the time.

fearless leader.

vinci. barbie. they hungered for rice.

mary flor. hazel.

leo. he declined the seafood offer. but he had to be dragged along. and he complied, much to our happiness.

we checked out the menu beforehand and found these boodle feasts to be quite a deal. i'm really not that much into seafood but even this looked tantalizingly good. i didn't know what to expect. the seafood island we went to was just in market market. but i never really got to try it out. it looked oddly obscure from the rest of the eating places there and i'm almost tempted to judge it by the way it looked from the outside. but then huge-ass platters of seafood on beds of rice came and we all just died and went straight to rice-heaven.

something with coconut milk. it's the obligatory gata-dish.

lone pusit.

we had our fair share of "vegetables"

it was also sort of our welcoming to dinner to our new band 2, ate joysi! and yes, she was shocked at our appetite. among other things.

the look of utter disgust hidden in the form of shock.

whatta face ate chiqui. whatta face.

and before we knew it, we ravaged the table 'til there was nothing left.

poor tentacle and claw.

give us fifteen minutes and we'll give you this.

we capped the night of by grabbing more sweets. as if we haven't had enough food.

BR dinners are epic.

secret nooks in the fort.

Monday, June 7, 2010

the fort has gone a long way from what i remember it back when we just used it as an alternate route home. now, it's completely getting the touch of rapid development. so fast, that some places end up getting overlooked. but when you pay a little more attention, there're actually more little nooks and crannies in the fort that have yet to be discovered!

a couple of fridays ago, we wanted to have a cheap dinner out because we were thinking about getting a couple of drinks somewhere in the fort. but because the place more or less spells steep-spending on food, we were pressed to look around. and what do you know, just at the ground floor of deutsche bank building, there are a handful of food places you can choose from! i knew about this place since the early parts of last year but never really got to check out the other places. they'd always be close by the time we get there. this time, we were just in time!

so we ate in Eat Well. aptly named, if you ask me.

i don't remember anymore which one's chinese, which one's not.

cheap, clean, chinese food is always very welcome. 3 C's. the key to a happy affordable dinner. wow, i'm actually sounding like i'm advertising this place. hahaha.

just go check it out.

baguio spells food tripping too!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

the family recently went up to baguio. the plan was to have no plans. literally. plans like that always work out quite perfectly. no hassle or pressure. just plain i'll-drive-up-to-baguio-and-do-nothing. welcome to our family. we like burning up gasoline that way. but then again, manila heat is just plain unbearable these days that random trips to relatively cooler places, despite being 400kms away, are always worth it. i got wasted the previous night so i hardly felt the trip up. but that's another story.

since we didn't have any plans at all, and since we stayed in the country club, we had ourselves a weekend full of food tripping. in all fairness to their dining place, everything tasted really good! i'm not gonna go all food connoisseur on you about their gastronomic goodies 'cos i'm not. i have a relatively simple palette. simple enough that baguio country club food made me happy. either that or i was really just in the mood for some good ol' pigging out.

cy ended up being tucked in his bag almost the entire time actually. i only got to pull him out during our last lunch. these were all i got.

they plated heart attack cubes. kick-ass ones, at that.

kalderetang beef had olives. they glam food up that way.

pakbet with pieces of fried liempo and an entire half of bangus. the vegetables hardly stood out.

kare kare. nothing special there.

for some strange reason, we were all hungry the entire time we were there. all that tv-ing and malling probably starved us. it makes sense right?

this baguio trip was epic. the food was epic.

BR celebrates 98!

Thursday, April 29, 2010

a few weeks ago (i never remember cos i'm old that way), i had to go look for a place where my team could be treated out by one of my team mates. one of those we-did-one-hell-of-a-kick-ass-shit kind of thing that warranted a pig-out day. yeah, i know. eating now is the new de-stressing secret. well, i dunno about new, actually. but anyway, i wanted to bring them somewhere interesting. not that i was the one paying. haha.

so i browsed online looking for some new places around the area. and i was pleasantly surprised at how much new foodie places have sprouted every where. clickthecity's a life savior. so is munchpunch. hahaha. i cheat. fine. so shoot me. but cheating brings you to places. aka bagnet 8065!

my team mates are rice mongrels. and the place was perfect! hidden in this random street somewhere in chino roces, we finally found it. it wasn't that hard to find especially cos ctc.com gave us pictures to work with.

bagnet 8065. where good hearts go bad.

BR TB. your hearts have their work cut out for them.

the place turned out pretty interesting. i didn't get to take much pictures cos it was really dark inside. and well, uhm, there were other people. i didn't want to look like i was intruding their personal space. not that that ever bothered me before. anyway. it was really exciting to have everyone, the entire team i mean, together and actually wanting to be together. i don't want to turn all smush but i love my team. this is me hoping it's mutual. hahaha.

enough.

so back to bagnet. and all the oily goodness.

fried blocks of fat can never be washed down with anything else other than coke. it's a rule of life. break it and your heart fails. almost instantaneously.

vinci does the honor.

barbie and her unending Japan uploads. it's a way of living, bank statement uploading. it's tantamount to breathing in BR-world. that and bank fees. or maybe bank fee is just me.

so there really wasn't much to order from the place aside from, well, bagnet. bagnet in different sauces. brilliant right? makes menu-making sooo much simpler. and at least you're sure everything else you get in the menu is available. so being the lavish fat-craving people that we were that night, we got an order of each kind. i don't remember all but i think there were uhm six of it. six sauces that is. to me it felt like once you've tasted one, you've tasted everything. doesn't negate the fact that the those pieces of pork were so gloriously fried to heavenly crispy-goodness. which was pure evil by the way. each bite just tells you you're getting closer to a heart attack. but you just can't stop yourself from mounding spoonfuls of bagnet-topped rice into your mouth.

we ordered other stuff too. at least just as far as their very varied menu would let us go.

sock soup. it prepares you for the oil-overload ahead. thank you maggi cubes, by the way. instant soup.

talong ensalada. just about all the vegetable-fix you'll ever get.

bagnet. once you've tried one, you've tried them all.

sixteen cups of rice, six orders of bagnet, and three liters of coke later, we decided it was enough head start for heart-failure-ville. not that i'm disclaiming but i only had one cup. just so you know. on a different note, i felt like i had to walk it off, if not run it out completely. so i stood up and started getting bored and cy-ing around.

candy photo-bombing.

is it just me or are joints like this always have some sort of a freedom wall?

"bawal bastos. si Dandin lang pwede!"

"you miss 100% of the shots you don't take! for teh lulz"

"BRTB WAZ HIR 4/14/10"

BR TB. we kick ass. the unapologetic way.

on our way out, someone had a brilliant idea of dropping by somewhere for dessert. as if we needed it after all that fried-goodness. but we all concurred. so we were off to caltex to max out carlo's star card. or at least up to what he'd let us max it out to. haha.

oo mary flor, ikaw na ang maganda.

oooh, what is that.

let's selecta gold!

...

i love my team. i'll miss this. :)
