off to Mansy's to nurse a headache.

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

there are just some days that plans are rendered completely useless. and if you think about it actually, the more you force it, the more it fails. spontaneity is the ultimate key. it does wonders beyond comprehension. and of course, spontaneity's never complete without mansanas.
a couple of saturdays ago, i planned to have one whole completely plan-less day. and i was aiming to keep it that way. my brain has been scattered all over the place the past few weeks and all i needed was to just chill at home and watch some mindless tv. so i played badminton in the morning but was suddenly hit by a spur-of-the-moment spontaneity. i texted a few people but when i got to the condo, i retired to bed almost instantaneously. after shower, of course. i woke up 4pm already and read about five messages from mansy. apparently, she had a headache and needed people to nurse it. as if i fit the job. but the prospect of bumming around in someone else's place is always inviting. so i was off to their place.
on my way, i picked me up my own surprise. leo's always a surprise. he's a fun toy to have around. haha!

the look that's obviously beckoning for some serious headache-caring.

leo, our toy for the night.

"love is forever". yeah right.
we stayed in her room a good 95 percent of the time. the room was fascinating enough to keep us entertained. plus all the little knick knacks lying around everywhere to tinker with. mansy's room screams entertain-yourself. well, that's always been the foundation of our friendship anyway. mind yourself because no one else will. hahaha! talk about invidualism. i'm amazed she's not single. that woman. pssh. haha!
of course carte postale had to be part of the night.

rummaging through the finished goods.

we were offered snacks. aka peanut lollipops.

"you think they'll like this?"

the pile of........... postcards. it's not trash. not trash, i tell you.

the take-my-candid-picture shot. because we're casual and natural that way.

because i'm the guest, i'm obliged to bring the DVD player we'll use to watch movies for the night. it's just your everyday practical house etiquette in action. nothing odd there.

carte postale in action. this is where your Php25.00 goes. save a girl from starvation.

paintings are usually left leaning against the walls. that's how mansy rolls.

i try my flexibility. i sort of failed.

"it could be worse."
and so we were all starving. the house didn't have stuff to eat. i heard the helpers were on their way home to the province or something. i never really understand how things worked in mansy's place. but it rocked! because they let deliveries from ken-afford in. and so anything from ken-afford is always gladly welcome. fond college memories, here we come.

we had quite a spread.

it wouldn't have been complete without stuffed pork chop. it used to be our staple lunch.

being the short-attention-span-ed people that we are, we got bored pretty easily. and well, we have mild cases of ADD too. so i wouldn't be surprised with our constant compulsion to move and be all jittery. i don't know about leo but i'm pretty sure mansy and i share the same abnormality.
so what to do at ten in the evening? go biking around the village!

the walk up the hill was worth the fifteen second gush of wind on our way down. fifteen minutes of hard labor for fifteen seconds of happiness. story of our lives.

there was a strawberry shake somewhere in the night. it remained unphotographed. too bad for my frozen strawberries, they don't get documented. they served being refreshments pretty well right after we got ourselves parched from biking. you will be sorely missed beloved frozen strawberries.
it would've been a shame not to use the player i shamelessly dragged to her place. so we had to do the obligatory watch-random-DVDs part of the night.
jay. a lot like love.

that night was fun. i wish mansy gets headaches more often than usual.
i miss spontaneity already.

friday nights are back. (01162010)

repost from nini.

...

first friday back and i think i did it the right way! driving out to alabang with diane to meet up with mish and jay for a movie sounded very promising to me. well, anything that involves driving out (without traffic, of course) is very much welcome to me anytime.

so friday was pretty normal. pretty slow day too. either that or i'm really just starting to care less and less about what's happening in that place. OR maybe gv has been working out perfectly fine. i think it's that. yeah, it's that. hahaha. so a couple of hours before diane and i planned to leave, we played pinoy henyo. not my game. i'd rather do charades. but treasury always has a way of turning any game insanely competitive. ginagamit ko ba ang kamay ko dito? ilang daliri do i need to operate it?? hahahaha! that was my one and only question eh. hahahaha! girls versus boys. and girls won. oh and yeah, i was with the girls. made perfect sense, didn't it?? so an hour and a half later, we were off to alabang! yey!

of course make up had to be put on. it's perfectly logical to.

traffic wasn't bad at all! it was surprising actually. considering it was a friday night heading south. i guess cos the skyway they've been trying to build - the past what, five years? - is finally getting some semblance of a decent infrastructure. got there in less than an hour! when we got there, had a hard time looking for a parking slot. but eventually got to find a free spot! ATC's probably one of the few places in manila that has free parking slots. thank god to urbanism.

mish's usb humping dog simply had to come along.

we were supposed to have dinner in omakase. but after going through the dark alley's of ATC (yeah, the entire mall was closed already and mish had fun bringing us around the dark alleys), we found out omakase closes at 10pm. too bad. so we went to brooklyn pizza instead. you know, that place we had lunch in once a long time ago when we used to have someone hang out with us.

diane. mish. they love showing their teeth.

mish treated us to discounted movie tickets! thanks to citibank. well, mish and jay actually. cos it was their cards. but like diane and i said, we'll take free food from jolibee over movie tickets any day! so yeah, go BPI! lol. anyway, any discount is very much welcome these days. poverty is not an easy thing to deal with. especially if you're paying for an expensive new hobby. so anyway, we romped through dinner. we had less than an hour to finish everything eh. and you know what, i'm not very religious with diet-ing ever since i came back. :( probably because i'm thinking the jogging would do it? i dunno. i have to do something about thissss! next week, i'll kick it up a notch. promise.

sherlock holmes was alright. i figured it would've been hugely enjoyable for holmes-fans. the movie was great, i think. but diane and i were partly confused most of the time. downey's fake accent was terrible eh. i couldn't understand through it. haha! or maybe my brain just refused to work along with the movie. jude law looked really old though. but it was generally a nice movie.

when the movie finished and we got out, darkness.

dark and closed malls scare me. scare the fuck out of me. always remind me of that time when i was six, i think, and my mom and i got locked in in SM. that was just insane. my mom was too busy getting her shoe size that the whole mall closed down already. and we had a hard time looking for our way out. it was prolly less of a scary ordeal than what i remember it to be. but hey, i was six okay. big dark malls scared me. and still do. haha!

it was supposed to be red.

i'm still having a hard time dealing with the lack of light when taking pictures. but there's this neat pic i took after fiddling with the ISO thing. i need to figure it out more though. oh but i noticed that my hands are getting stabler and stabler. less blur in the pics during dark moments. i'm happy. i just need to figure out how to take good light. and how to focus in low light. wow. pretend photography-talk. hahahaha!
i love my first friday back. i think i did it right! hihi.

...

i'm excited for tonight also. someone's back!
